Weekend Reporter - News 19 WXOW

I’m Marcus, originally from Pine Island, Minnesota. I graduated from the Hubbard School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in December of 2017 with a degree in journalism and studies in cinema and media culture. During my undergrad, I worked for Gopher Digital Productions as a production assistant, interned at Minnesota Public Radio and was involved with campus media club StudioU. I thoroughly enjoyed being an involved gopher by working as a first year orientation leader and college of liberal arts student ambassador.  In spring of 2017 I studied abroad in Nairobi, Kenya where I studied international development and interned for a non-government organization called SlumTV that focused on reporting in a way that gives the community a platform to tell their own stories.

After college, I worked for KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota as a production assistant before being offered the Weekend Multimedia Journalist position at WXOW.

When I’m not working at improving my reporting game, I enjoy running, watching Game of Thrones with my cat Leo, and eating coffee flavored chocolate chip ice cream.
